CHJC Awarded $2 Million State Grant to Expand Mental Health Emergency Response
The Children’s Home of Jefferson County (CHJC) is proud to announce the award of a $2 million state grant to enhance and expand mental health emergency response services across the North Country.
This funding will support a progressive response model that pairs licensed mental health professionals with law enforcement on calls where mental health intervention is needed. The initiative is designed to ensure individuals experiencing mental health crises receive compassionate, clinically informed care during critical moments.
“These kinds of services are truly at the heart of what CHJC does,” said Paige Wiley, Director of Behavioral Health Administration. “We are committed to providing care in a way that promotes dignity, self-respect, and choice — allowing people to be in charge of their own health, their own goals, and their own future.”
The grant will fund the purchase of two new emergency response vehicles and the hiring of additional staff, strengthening CHJC’s ability to serve the community with timely, supportive, and person-centered care.
This investment represents a significant step forward in building a response system rooted in dignity, partnership, and hope.
